BubbleBum Travel Car Booster Seat Giveaway

I was recently contacted by the lovely people behind the BubbleBum Booster Seat to see if I’d like to review one. BattleKid is unfortunately not at the stage of being ready for a booster seat. I will also freely admit I was a bit confused as to whether children could still use backless booster seats given the new laws that came into effect at the beginning of the year regarding child car seats.

To help with this confusion, BubbleBum themselves have written a blog post to help customers who might be unsure about the new rules, especially where booster or cushion seats are concerned. Their blog post, along with guidelines from the British Government helped me get clarification about the new rules. If you are unsure about the new rules and whether your child can use one, I urge you to read both links.

It turns out that children can still use backless booster seats and for parents who travel or ferry children between cars, a BubbleBum Booster Seat might just be what you are looking for.

The BubbleBum Travel Car Booster Seat is a portable, foldable, inflatable/deflatable, lightweight car booster seat for children aged between 4 and 11 years of age. It easily deflates and packs away, making it ideal for those who travel regularly, for holidays, for taxi journeys, school trips and even the grandparents cars. Winner of more than 20 designs, innovations and safety awards, including Mumsnet, Mother & Baby and Practical Parenting, its narrow design makes it perfect to fit 3 car seats across the rear seat of family cars.

It comes with its own stretchy bag to store in, when not in use, and because it is lightweight, it can easily be carried in a handbag or rucksack so it is close to hand if needed. Available in a range of colours, it also has an added shoulder belt positioning clip to make it extra comfortable.

Made from durable material that is both strong and safe, the BubbleBum has been designed for use by children between the ages of 4 and 11. It has been approved under the United Nations ECE Regulation R44/04 for safety for both Groups 2 and 3. It is designed for use with a standard 3 point adult seat belt that has been approved to ECE Regulation 15 or equivalent. The only countries that are not covered by this legislation are Canada and Australia.

The BubbleBum Booster Seat sells on Amazon, Halfords and Boots for £29.99 but for the next few weeks it will cost £21.99 or €24.99 in all Lidl stores in Ireland and Northern Ireland while stocks last. So, if you could do with a BubbleBum Booster Seat, I urge you to get down to your nearest Lidl to grab one while you can.

However, the lovely people at BubbleBum have offered one of my readers the chance to win one of their Travel Car Booster Seats in black. Just follow the instructions on the widget below and best of luck!

Get Your Teens Cooking with Dublin Cookery School

As a parent of a pre-schooler I am yet to discover the wonders of what to do with him once the summer holidays hit. But I know enough mums and dads with children of all school ages who really dread the summer holidays and how they are going to keep them occupied enough not to hear the words “I’m bored”. Planning for the summer holidays is no doubt underway in some homes already. Well, parents of teens in and around Dublin who may be too old for traditional summer camps, I’ve got you covered. Why not get your teens cooking with Dublin Cookery School this summer on one of their Growing Gourmets courses.get your teens cooking with dublin cookery school

For quite a number of years now the Dublin Cookery School has run two week-long summer courses for teens aged between 12 and 16, both in June, in a bid to get them cooking and interested in getting into the kitchen more.

I became aware of these courses when a colleague of my mum’s mentioned that her son was too old for summer camps but was desperate to attend something like it. That’s where Dublin Cookery School came into play.

The aim of Growing Gourmets over the course of the week is to not only improve the teens cooking skills, but also introduce them to new techniques in the kitchen while discovering new tastes and recipes they can recreate at home.

This could be a win-win situation. As their confidence increases while mastering new skills, you could find the kitchen taken over and a range of new dishes being served up as they learn to make things like Soda Bread (my person favourite), Thai Meatballs and Lemon Drizzle cake.get your teens cooking with dublin cookery school get your teens cooking with dublin cookery school

Classes are small and held in a fun and relaxed environment where you can be guaranteed lots of one to one interaction between your teen and the friendly and supportive tutors. The programs are unique and could be just the ticket to start off the summer holidays for your teens. It’s like a summer camp with a food playground.

It’s also a great way to strike a balance between teaching your teens a great life skill while creating some fun-filled memories too. The teen son of my mum’s work colleague absolutely loved his week at Dublin Cookery School.get your teens cooking with dublin cookery school

There are two courses in June this year. The first is a four-day course (6th June) and the second is a five-day course (19th June), costing €250 and €295 respectively. Each day lasts from 10am until 3pm.

Lunch and a recipe book are provided, as are all ingredients, so there’s no need to worry about additional costs like sending ingredients or lunch/snacks with your teens. Dublin Cookery School is located in Brookfield Terrace, Blackrock, close to both the DART line and bus stops.

So, if you have a budding Jamie Oliver or Darina Allen, why not get your teens cooking with Dublin Cookery School this summer. BattleKid enjoys being in the kitchen with both myself and Lolo, a retired chef, and were he older, I’d be looking into something like this for him!

For more information about the course or to book a place for your teens, please visit the Dublin Cookery School website.

And what better way to get your teens cooking with Dublin Cookery School than with some supplies. The lovely people at Dublin Cookery School have kindly offered one of my Irish readers the chance to win a copy of From Lynda’s Table cookbook, the owner of Dublin Cookery School, and a Dublin Cookery School goodie bag too. Win Two Puzzles from Ravensburger

I’ve been lucky enough to have the chance to review two more adult puzzles from Ravensburger. The 1000 piece Used Car Lot puzzle was very enjoyable and easier to do than the previous 1000 piece I reviewed. I also reviewed a lovely 500 piece, A Day at the Beach. Both puzzles are aimed at those aged 10+ and both are easy enough to do.used car lot puzzle a day at the beach puzzle

Now that I’ve had the chance to complete and review them it’s time to let one of my readers win them. If you’d like to get your hands on both puzzles, simply follow the instructions in the widget below and good luck. Please note that both puzzles have been opened and completed once for the purpose of the reviews. They are otherwise like new.

Win a Family Day Pass to Geronimo 2017 Festival

Geronimo, the UK’s largest children’s festival, kicks off on 27th to 29th May 2017. Action-packed with more performances, activities and acts than in its previous two years, families can also enjoy camping on-site in the stunning grounds of Arley Hall, Cheshire for a fun weekend.geronimo 2017 festival

From the Geronimo Festival Circus to the legendary Justin Fletcher, Mr Bloom and Andy Day, there will lots of acts, performers and activities to keep the kids entertained for hours.geronimo 2017 festival geronimo 2017 festival

Guinness World Record holder Jez Avery will also be there performing his world class PRO BMX and Mountain bike Stunts at The Show Ground Arena, which I know BattleKid would love to see as he is bike mad, whether it be the cycling or motor type!

There will be a sound track to enjoy for all Geronimo festival goers from Mr. Wilson’s Second Liners, a New Orleans funeral street parade meets 90s club classics rave, to Rockin’ Rhinos ‘rocked-up nursery rhyme remixes.geronimo 2017 festival

Brand new to Geronimo 2017 is the Digital Zone, where older children can meet their favourite YouTubers and Gamers as well as try their hand at all the latest technology.

There will also be an inflatable assault course, Parkour workshops, plus the UK’s first fully mobile, interactive 30 metre-long trailer cave. Little monkeys can enjoy the four climbing towers and a digital traverse wall, and are sure to be pooped by the end of the day!geronimo 2017 festival geronimo 2017 festival geronimo 2017 festival geronimo 2017 festival

For Tiny tots there are signing classes and sensory activities, along with Little Learners, the award-winning messy play and mark making class. Younger children can get their groove on at Dance Baby Sling.

To keep everyone fueled throughout the festival, there will be a huge range of food stalls, artisan burger and wood-fired pizza vans, which I personally like the sound of. Even the fussiest of eaters will find something to ensure they can carry on enjoying the fun at Geronimo 2017!

For the first year ever families can now camp in the specially designed child friendly campsite. The campsite features both options to either bring your own tent, caravan or motorhome, or take advantage of the many glamping options. With the option of booking all the kit needed to camp and the promise to be pitched with friends regardless of group size or when you arrive, all that grown-ups need to worry about is making sure they get to see as much of the Geronimo Festival as they can.

Like the sound of all of that? Well, I have 1 Family Day Pass to attend the Geronimo 2017 Festival, either on Sunday 28th May or Bank Holiday Monday 29th May, on offer for one of my lucky readers. The winner will win a Family Day Pass to this year’s Geronimo Festival and are sure to have a jam-packed day of fun!
